to render such services of goodwill as he might have the opportunity to exercise."
THE funeral of this popular preacher was well attended and the preacher told those there: "William Malkinson died with the gospel in his heart and ready to be on his lips. He was ready to preach the love of God in Christ. He was used to walking, and has preached on the sending energy of God's spirit. We give thanks for the tradition of Methodist preachers. We may well not die on a February day, in the depth of winter, struggling up a hill but the challenges of our day call for comparable courage and commitment. I call on those who hear these words to consider well whether they have the Gospel of Christ in their hearts and whether the time has come for it to be in their lives.
He told the inquest: "I last saw him alive on to the top of Irton Fell road, on Sunday morning, about half past ten, as near as I can tell. At the time of his death we were walking together, but not talking. We had agreed to have no conversation while we were going over the Fell. It was foggy and misty.
"We were passing on, I on one side and he on the other. I heard a moan, and then a thud on the grass. He was a step or two behind me. He apparently had swerved to one side to fall on the grass, as I think he was not walking on it. I immediately rushed across the road to his assistance and called out: 'Oh William; oh, William'.
The paper carried a report of his inquest and continued to talk about the lamentable death of this popular man. The inquest took place at the Bridge Hotel, Santon Bridge on Monday morning Fendi Card Case Price
The paper went on to say: "Mr Malkinson was popular at Cleator Moor, both with the members of the Board and with the ratepayers, to both of whom he was able and conscientious servant. He was an extremely careful and painstaking man in all that related to the duties of his office, and he administered the details of the Board's business with capacity and success. In his private and personal relations, Mr Malkinson was equally estimable, and he was always ready Fendi Wallet Eyes Monster
He said: "I noticed particularly that (the body) was heavily clothed. He had on two waistcoast, two coats, and two mullers; in fact he had on sufficient clothes to embarrass and make the breathing more difficult, even on level ground. He had on too much, especially walking up such a hill as he as going up. I think it was from the effort of walking up this long hill and of being heavily clothed he died from disease of the heart.

the day after his death.
Mr Huddart eventually gave up trying to resuscitate William and left him by the road while running back home to get help.
"He had fallen on his face. I turned him over, and raised him up, and tore off his necktie and collar, as quickly as I could. He gasped a few times but I could get no answer from him. I held him up and tried to relieve his chest as best I could for about five or six minutes. I eventually Fendi Wallet Monster saw he was dead, as the colour began to pass away from him face."
As the stone says, William Malkinson was a Wesleyan preacher but was also clerk to the Cleator Moor Local Board. He was 51, married with three children, when he "expired with terrible suddenness" as The Whitehaven News of February 25th 1886 so melodramatically put it.
A browse of the archives of The Whitehaven News and a search of the archives of Whitehaven Record Office and Local Studies Library reveals more about him.
